Born and raised in Hong Kong, Guy spent his formative years developing his love for sport in the sweltering heat and monsoon rains of South East Asia. After finishing school he moved ‘home’ to the UK to study for a BA in History and Politics at the University of York, before beginning his journey into journalism through the MA in Sports Journalism at St. Mary’s.
While studying at York, Guy became involved with the UK’s most awarded student newspaper, York Vision. It was with Vision that he began to discover his affinity for sports journalism, immediately deciding that this was the career he would pursue. Starting out as Vision’s Chief Sports Reporter, Guy quickly moved up to the position of Deputy Sports Editor, before eventually taking the reins as Sports Editor for a period of 5 months.
Guy’s sporting knowledge mainly lies within the realms of football, cricket, rugby, boxing, and MMA, but he holds a keen interest and is knowledgeable in most sports.
Guy’s History and Politics degree has meant that his journalism career so far has been focused around writing, but he hopes to soon develop skills in broadcast and multimedia journalism in order to broaden his skill set and become a top-level sports journalist.
