Everton vs Crystal Palace: Match Preview

Everton are coming off two consecutive losses as they face Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Friday night. Currently sitting in fifth place in the Premiership table, this is a massive game for Everton as a win would boost them into second place above hometown rivals Liverpool.

The last two match-ups between these sides resulted in a draw, most recently in April of this year. If Friday’s lineup is similar to the Bournemouth match, the Toffees have a strong side ready to face seventh place Crystal Palace. Should Palace emerge victorious, they will be sitting joint third in the Premiership.

Newly acquired winger Yannick Bolasie is expected to start against his former side. Everton manager Ronald Koeman told Sky Sports News that “…he [Bolasie] is physically strong, fast and has a good mentality. His work rate is high and he gives the team energy. He is one of the best wingers in the Premier League. He has a lot of strengths, but he needs to improve in his productivity. Nine goals in three Premier League seasons is too little.”

Striker Romelu Lukaku will be squaring off against Christian Benteke, who is making himself right at home in South London after signing at a record cost of £32 million pounds earlier this month . Lukaku is Everton’s current top scorer, with four goals to his name so far this season.

Bookies place odds on a win for Everton at 7/10, a win for Crystal Palace at 15/4 and a draw at 14/5.
