Yeovil Town Ladies' Lucy Quinn hails year to remember after promotion to WSL1
Yeovil Town winger Lucy Quinn has had an incredible rise as a footballer and doesn’t think she’s “had a year quite like it”.
Yeovil Town Ladies beat London Bees 2-0 to confirm promotion to Women’s Super League 1 and it was Quinn’s cross that was met by Kayleigh Green to give Yeovil the lead in the second-half.
Quinn said: “I know she can jump and header the ball like that, when I felt it was a decent cross when it left my foot I knew she’d connect and then see it go over the line.
“I think I dropped to my knees, I didn’t really know what to do."
Quinn, who signed for Yeovil from Portsmouth in July and has also represented England for Beach Soccer this summer, says playing at the top level is all you want to do as a kid.
She added: “You want to be a professional footballer, and now women can do that and for me to spend such a short time in WSL2 and be given this opportunity to go up, it’s unbelievable.”
Yeovil will be champions if they beat Sheffield next week and Quinn is desperate to go up as league winners.
“Nobody wants to go up, second place, we want to win it, it’s in our hands”
