WEST LONDON VARSITY PREVIEW: Smash-ing times for St Mary’s Women’s Badminton

Sports Gazette looks at performances of the St. Mary's badminton teams prior to their match against Brunel University

 St. Mary’s University’s badminton teams will be seen in action on Wednesday, 29th March at The West London Varsity 2017 to be hosted by Brunel University.

The Men’s and Women’s badminton teams will display their talent with the racket in Brunel’s Netball Hall starting at 8.30am.

The St. Mary’s Women’s 1st team looks promising after their performance in the BUCS Badminton 2016-2017 - South Eastern 2A.

They won their last match, 5-3 against University of Chichester Women’s 1st which was played on 22nd March 2017.

After winning their home game, St. Mary’s Women’s 1st team finished at the top of the points table. They played 10 matches and secured seven wins and three draws.

While the Women’s team seems impressive, the Men’s team need to put their act together after a below average outing in the BUCS Badminton 2016-2017 - South Eastern 4A.

They ended their last match on a positive note by winning 7-1 against Roehampton University Mens 1st.

St. Mary’s Men’s played 10 matches with only one victory, eight losses and a draw against their name.

Meanwhile, the St. Mary’s Mixed 1st team have won three out of the four games they played in the LUSL Badminton Intermediate 2016-17 -Division 1.
