Best picks and tips for FPL Double Gameweek 32
With Crystal Palace and Newcastle both playing twice, we explore the best transfers, captaincy picks, and players to avoid ahead of FPL Double Gameweek 32.
Captain Isak? Sell Palmer? Here is your guide to navigating Double Gameweek 32:
Three must-have players to buy:
Daniel Muñoz (Crytal Palace – £5.2m) – With two goals, an assist and three clean sheets in his last five games, it’s hard to present a more complete FPL option in defence than Daniel Muñoz. Couple this up with the fact that Crystal Palace have two Double Gameweeks back-to-back, there really is no argument against owning the swashbuckling Colombian right-back.
Tino Livramento (Newcastle – £4.6m) – Fresh off the back of an 11-point haul away at The King Power Stadium, Livramento has the upside of having two home games this week as part of Newcastle’s Double Gameweek.
Newcastle boast 10 clean sheets this season, the fourth best record in the league. With no real competition for the left-back spot (Lewis Hall injury, expected back 01 June), Livramento is as good as guaranteed to start in that back line.
Pervis Estupiñan (Brighton – £4.9m) – Selected by only 1.2% of players, Brighton’s raiding fullback is the perfect differential this week. He hasn’t racked up the same healthy points tally he did last season, but with opponents Leicester City in town for the upcoming gameweek, it’s hard to look past his potential.
The Foxes are goalless in their last eight games and Estupiñan can exploit their leaky defence. The Ecuadorian scored away at The Etihad in gameweek 29, further bolstering his attacking credentials.
Three FPL traps to avoid:
Cole Palmer (Chelsea – £10.7m) – An FPL must have at one point, Palmer has now failed to score in his last 13 games in all competitions. In that time he’s also registered just one assist and there simply aren’t enough attacking returns to justify transferring him in this week despite the favourable home fixture against Ipswich.
With plenty of Double Gameweek options available, Palmer’s poor form and hefty price tag make him one to avoid this week.
Jacob Murphy (Newcastle – £5.2m) – This is a controversial one as Murphy has scored 21 points in the last 2 game weeks. While he is a nailed-on starter for Newcastle’s upcoming Double Gameweek and is one of the most transferred in players this week, the return of Anthony Gordon could have an impact on Murphy’s attacking potential and minutes.
Additionally, Murphy’s minutes on the pitch are not guaranteed as he has played 65 and 71 minutes in his last two games respectively, making him a less reliable option to deliver attacking returns.
Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa – £5.6m) – The man with ice in his veins has been on fire lately, registering a goal contribution in 4 of his last 5 games.
Aston Villa have a favourable fixture vs Southampton, but with a big Champions League second leg vs PSG on the horizon, it wouldn’t be surprising if Rogers is rested against the Saints to keep him fresh for mid-week. While the price and fixture make him an obvious pick for FPL manager, Rogers could end up being an FPL trap.
Best Captaincy picks:
Alexander Isak (Newcastle – £8.9m) – This pick speaks for itself. 20 goals, 5 assists, and 179 points. Isak is having a phenomenal season. He looked like he might have been carrying a knock in Newcastle’s last outing against Leicester, but assistant manager Jason Tindall has squashed such rumours, stating that Isak has “trained and feels fine”.
The Magpies have a Double Gameweek with both fixtures at St James’ Park. Opponents Manchester United and Crystal Palace will do well to stop the Swedish striker from coming away with a healthy return. Not a differential pick by any means, but the safest bet this week.
Jean-Phillipe Mateta (Crystal Palace – £7.7m) – Despite two tough away fixtures this week (Manchester City & Newcastle United), Mateta can provide a differential captaincy option. With five goals and an assist in his last seven games, there’s no reason the Frenchman can’t continue his fine run of goalscoring form.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool – £13.8m) – Having already shattered his own FPL points tally record this season with 311 points, there’s an argument that Salah should be an auto-captain every week. Despite having just one fixture this week in West Ham at home, Salah can match the Double Gameweek options.
The Egyptian king came away from the reverse fixture with a 16-point haul, and having signed a new contract at Liverpool, could look to celebrate in the perfect way with a big return in front of the Anfield faithful.
