Legends Ibiza: A chance for fans to get closer to the game than ever
Football fandom is as rampant as ever. Fans save up for months so they can travel halfway across the world to watch their favourite team play. Thousands are splurged so fans get to earn a piece of memorabilia of their favourite player, be it their sweaty match worn jersey or a signed trading card. Loyal fans of the sport have many options to show dedication to their idols, with their wallets knowing no end if it means they have the opportunity to breathe the same air as them.
But what if fans not only have that option but beyond that as well and get to actually play the game with their heroes?
Legends Soccer Group is doing just that with the ‘Legends Ibiza’ in June. Legends Ibiza is a first of its kind event that will offer fans the opportunity to play football alongside the likes of Luis Figo, Andrea Pirlo, Iker Casillas, Juan Sebastian Veron and Michel Salgado, just to name a few. However, the experience comes at a hefty price.
Tickets start at 750 GBP, ranging up to 5000 GBP. packages include once in a lifetime experiences where patrons can not only just watch but also play football alongside these legends. Other than the opportunity to play with these icons of the game, patrons can participate in other activities such as playing padel and golf or they can attend exclusive events such as VIP dinners and parties as well as a music festival.
Luis Figo is at the forefront of this entire event. The Ballon D’Or winner aims to invest the profits from the event into multiple charities such as Cruz Roja and his own charity- The Luis Figo Foundation.
“It’s going to be an incredible event”, said Figo.“Ibiza is an amazing island and the opportunity to be part of Legends Ibiza is getting everyone really excited. We can’t wait to bring fans and world stars together around meaningful causes in a global celebration of live sport, entertainment and community.”
The event is organised by the Legends Soccer Group, which had previously organised the ‘Game4Ukraine’ match in August 2023. As a spectacle, Legends Ibiza goes a step above in all regards, which was the aim of Legends Soccer Group’s founder and CEO- Lester Holcombe.
“We were talking about scaling up the Legends brand off the back of doing our big impact matches like Game for Grenfell and Game for Ukraine. We drew up a shortlist of four or five territories – Miami, Como, the Middle East, Abu Dhabi – and Ibiza just kept coming up in all the conversations”, said Holcombe about finalising Ibiza as the venue for the event.
“It’s a high-end destination that’s incredibly desirable to players, where loads of footballers, pop stars, and DJs live. We wanted to create something a bit more bespoke, rather than another big stadium event, and make it really immersive for the people attending.”
The Mondrian Ibiza will house the guests and spectators offering them a luxurious experience throughout, with The Bubble Club and Golf Ibiza hosting the padel and golf respectively. The lucrative experiences on offer, at the earlier mentioned hefty price tag, Legends Ibiza is looking to attract only the cream of the crop.
“The beauty of this event is that it appeals to everyone – from high-net-worth individuals to people who are just obsessed with a single player or part of a fan club”, said Holcombe about the target audience for the event.
“We’re giving guests the opportunity to have breakfast, lunch, attend the pre-match dinners, post-match events, trophy ceremonies – sit behind the dugout, hang out with the players on the team coach. You’re not a spectator. You’re actually part of the event. It’s so unique and that’s why we’re confident people are going to love it.”
The confidence behind this venture is massive from all stakeholders, as everyone involved expects this to be the “event of the summer”. Legends Ibiza will take place from June 2-5 on the ‘Isla Blanca’ of Ibiza.
