Saturday matchdays take on a new meaning for Christian Pulisic

Chelsea and USMNT winger Christian Pulisic has teamed up with Chipotle to provide meals for staff at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania for the next four Saturdays.

This gesture is to show appreciation for the sacrifices and the hard work health workers have put in working and fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Pulisic who is a Hershey native penned an endorsement deal with Chipotle in 2019 and as a big supporter of the brand is often spotted at the Baker Street branch in London. He will make sure the staff will be fed by sending burritos every Saturday to the Hershey Medical Center, a day where he would’ve been playing football. He kicked off his efforts yesterday.

“Saturdays have always been a happy day for me – it was the day I could go out and play the game I love, soccer, so hopefully this will bring some happiness to our Superheroes for Saturdays to come,” said the winger.

Pulisic moved to Chelsea in January 2019 and joined the team at the beginning of the 2019/20 season. He is the second-highest goal contributor with 6 goals and 6 assists despite only playing 1576 minutes before he was sidelined by an abductor injury in January.

After making a contribution to Feeding America in helping the foodbanks earlier in the year, he stresses the importance of people supporting their local communities in this tough time no matter how small.

“If you have the means to help your local hospital during this tough time, I encourage you to do the same. Everything counts, no matter how small.

The United States has been hit hard by this invisible enemy with deaths rising up to 54 000 and over 939 000 cases. Even though states like Florida have re-opened. There is still a lot of work to do.
