Rodriguez runs from her own half and strikes the ball from 30 yards out which sizzles through the air, over Haracic’s head and into the back of Sky Blue’s net. Not only did this goal ensure a 1-0 win for Utah Royals but it also granted Rodriguez with a Puskas Award nomination.

9. Ajara Nchout

Vs New Zealand (FIFA Women’s World Cup)

One turn, then another. Ajara Nchout left New Zealand’s Ria Percival for dead before slotting the ball into the right-hand side of the net for her second of the match. This 90+5 minute winner sent Cameroon into the last 16 of the 2019 World Cup.

8. Lucy Bronze

Vs Norway (FIFA Women’s World Cup)

Lucy Bronze has been at the forefront of women’s football in 2019 and was nominated for the Ballon d’Or, ultimately coming second to Megan Rapinoe. Her goal against Norway gave England a 3-0 lead in the quarter final of the World Cup and it was shortlisted for BBC Sports Personality of the Year’s Greatest Sporting Moment.

7. Fara Williams

Vs Liverpool (FAWSL)

Fara Williams scored this belter of a free kick in the first week of the 2019 WSL season, earning Reading a 1-0 win against Liverpool. Despite not featuring in the England World Cup squad, she is making her mark in the WSL with 2 goals and 5 assists so far. If she scores more free kicks like this then surely Phil Neville will be making enquiries about a return to action for England’s most capped player.

6. Desire Oparanozie

Vs Paris FC (D1 Arkema)

It takes some nerve to shoot from the centre circle but that’s exactly why Desire Oparanozie is on this list. The Guingamp and Nigerian captain’s long-range shot is perfectly measured, soaring over the keeper’s head and dipping under Paris FC’s crossbar.  She later took to Twitter to describe her efforts: “I call me the visionary.”
