AFC Wimbledon vs Stockport County: Dons look to get back to winnings ways

AFC Wimbledon take on Stockport County as the Dons look to push forward into the top half of the table. A win for the Dons will see them leap above Stockport in the table as they’re currently only two points behind the North West based side.

Wimbledon have been struggling of late, having won only one of their last five games and failing to win in their last three. They’ve also been struggling in front of goal having failed to score in their last two games.

In Wimbledon’s last game, they lumbered to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Bradford. The fact that Bradford also went down to 10 men with 30 minutes to go will add to the dissatisfaction amongst the Dons fans.

Wimbledon also missed out on getting back to winning ways in midweek as their home fixture against Walsall was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The grievance felt by Wimbledon fans can’t be said for their opponents this weekend in Stockport. The Hatters have been in fine form recently, having won four out of their last six games in the league, which has propelled them up to the top half of the table.

They sit three points off 7th placed Bradford with games in hand over teams around them. A win against the Dons will put them in pole position to climb into the playoff places.

Like Wimbledon, Stockport’s last game was also at home to Bradford, this time in midweek. As well as the same opponents, likewise, was the result as neither side could break the deadlock in a dull 0-0 affair.

Stockport can gain further confidence in this fixture knowing they’ve already beaten the Dons this season. An 11th minute header from Fraser Horsfall was enough to separate the two sides back in September.
