AFC Wimbledon vs Bradford City: Dons trying to make up ground in the play-off chase
AFC Wimbledon take on Bradford City in a League Two play-off battle as Johnnie Jackson’s side sits only four points behind their opponent. After a series of three league away games in a row, the Dons return to their home ground at Plough Lane on Saturday.
Wimbledon’s last game against Crewe Alexandra ended in a draw without any goals last week. As seen earlier this season, the Dons struggled to turn draws into wins with eight draws so far. The team currently sits at 13th place in the league table with 35 points from 25 games.
AFC Wimbledon have only lost one out of their last five league games. Now the Dons want to gain ground on the play-off places.
Their opponent, Bradford City, even lost three out of their last five games. The Bantams currently occupy the 5th place in the table. Surprisingly, they lost their last match against 22nd-placed AFC Rochdale – the chance for the Dons to move up to a one point difference to Bradford through victory.
The last time the two sides met the game ended in a 2-2 draw. The Dons were leading through goals from Harry Pell and Ethan Chislett until Bradford scored a late equaliser in the 95th minute.
This game will especially be an emotional one for Bradford Assistant Manager and former AFC Wimbledon Manager and player Glyn Hodges who will return to Plough Lane to take a seat on the opponent’s side.
