AFC Wimbledon vs. Walsall Preview: Dons keen to secure a first home win since end of January

In a match that was twice postponed – firstly due to the Walsall’s progress in the FA Cup, before icy weather forced a rearranged clash – the Dons have a real opportunity  to finally get home a win that has eluded them since end of January.

AFC Wimbledon will look to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to Barrow over the weekend as they take on Walsall Football Club.

The Dons are 18th on the table with 43 points.

Their West Midlands opponents currently sit 13th on the table, six points clear.

The midweek fixture will be the last game under the lights this season at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, for Johnnie Jackson’s men, who are winless in their last eleven games.

The Dons manager understands the importance of a win against Walsall. “No one is coming to the rescue,” he said.

His team managed to pick only one point out of a possible twenty-one points in their last seven league games.

The Saddlers will make a trip to London with six points more in the League 2 table, but they understand the task ahead: the Dons will not be easy to beat as they look to secure a first home win since the end of January.

Members of the glorious 2010/11 promotion-winning squad will be in attendance as special guests.  James Mulley, Jon Main, Rashid Yussuff, Steven Gregory, Danny Kedwell, Fraser Franks, Brett Johnson Christian Jolley – along with Mickey Haswell and Elliott Godfrey.

As far as Head to Head goes, the Dons fall short of the Saddlers. Both teams have met on seven occasions and they have won three times as compared to Walsall’s four times.
