Brentford vs. Luton Town match preview: The Bees are hoping for back-to-back wins for the first time since November

Brentford have the opportunity to go ten points clear of the relegation zone today with a possible win over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in Luton, England.

The Bees have received a boost as Christian Nørgaard and Kristoffer Ajer have been deemed fit enough for selection.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank left Bees’ fans with hope of a possible return to fitness for Ivan Toney. Toney has been recovering from a hip injury and could feature in the starting eleven.

“He’s desperate,” Frank said. “I’m desperate so let’s see tomorrow. They [the fans] know how much I like Ivan and how important a player he is for us.”

Attacking spaces left behind when Luton move forward could be imperative in this fixture. Luton Town has conceded the second most goals in the league, 70, with 5 matches left to play in the season.

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards usually opts for 3-4-3 with the use of wingbacks. His side is not afraid to attack with numbers on occasion.

Frank spoke about how important moments in transition will be in the match today.

“Undoubtedly, big, but both ways,” Frank said. “Can we avoid losing the ball in critical areas? And, can we be good to sprint back on our recovery runs? And, hopefully we can be in a position where we win it back relatively quickly. Plus, the other way how can we counter because then it will just be a little bit more space.”

Kevin Schade helped to give Brentford an attacking boost in the dying embers of their previous match against Sheffield United.

Schade provided an assist in stoppage time to secure a 2-0 win for the Bees last Saturday.

The 22-year-old’s reintegration into the squad could provide another attacking threat in Brentford’s last five matches of the season.

“Happy with his substitution appearance against Sheffield United besides the assist he looked sharp,” Frank said. “Now, he had another good training week. I’m pleased with what I see. He can definitely help the team and he is an extra weapon we have.”

Brentford are looking to secure back to back wins for the first time since November. Frank believes the lack of consistency is another reminder of how “crazy” and “relentless” the Premier League season is.

“A win will of course be very important,” Frank said. “I really would enjoy that. The win of course with the circumstance and narrative we are talking about, but for me it’s just as important getting back-to-back wins. It’s been too long since that happened. And, another reminder of this crazy league, a relentless league that is difficult. So, hopefully we can do that.”
