From the royal approval of Kate and William to becoming a lifestyle necessity for Kim and Courteney. The sport of padel has found a way into the lives of millions across the world and because of this makes it one of the fastest growing sports in the world.

A mix between tennis and squash, padel was first developed in Mexico in the late 60s.

Padel was a success in North America and soon after it started to grow in Europe in countries such as Spain and Portugal. Despite the success in various countries, padel was still  very niche. In 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic saw the sports popularity soar as it could be played outdoors without physical contact.

The rise in popularity has really pushed padel into mainstream sports coverage with celebrities and other athletes taking to the sport.

Club de padel is Manchester’s first dedicated padel club. The club was founded by David Blake, Matt McKinlay, James Wigglesworth and Lucy Noone Blake. The club is tucked between the towers of Deansgate square making for a quite extraordinary view for players.
