Morocco look to seal their place in the World Cup last 16 as they take on Canada in their final group game tomorrow.

One point will do for The Atlas Lions as they look to equal or better Belgium’s result against Croatia in order to advance to the knockout stages.

They will be brimming with confidence after they convincingly beat Belgium 2-0 on Sunday.

After two games played, Morocco have accumulated four points and conceded 0 goals.

A record that has left coach Walid Regragui full of praise for his players.

“We’ve matched two of the best teams in the world.

“Of course it will be tougher if we get to the knockout stage but that’s the level I want to get to.

“With these fans, with these players and this spirit we can do anything. The competition is not over, we have to recover quickly for the game against Canada.”

Mixed Feelings for Canada

Canada’s 2022 World Cup has been a mixed one.

They come into tomorrow’s game already eliminated having picked up 0 points from their first two games.

The Canadians will still feel a bit aggrieved that they didn’t pick up at least a point in their 1-0 defeat to Belgium.

They created the better chances and had a golden chance to score in the first half when Alphonso Davies saw his penalty saved by Thibault Courtois.

The Bayern Munich player did make a bit of history in their 4-1 defeat against Croatia last time out as he scored the country’s first-ever World Cup goal.

But ultimately they were overrun by the Croatians and couldn’t contend with their controlled style of play.

Manager John Herdman’s tactical style has made the Canadians a fun team to watch, however, it hasn’t proved effective in getting results.

His fast-paced system has left his side looking exhausted in the latter stages of their other games.

“I’ll take it on the chin,” he said following their defeat to Croatia.

One thing is for sure, this World Cup will have been a great experience for Canada’s young players, and they will look to build on that when they cohost the competition in 2026.
