Non-League’s newest club inspires new generation of fans

Today’s young football fans are often accused of being too obsessed with YouTube and their heroes on the TV rather than the true roots of the game, however, one unique club is changing all of that.

The real world and the virtual world have been brought together by the country’s newest and most unique club Hashtag United.

The club was founded in 2016 by Spencer Owen and played a series of exhibition matches on his YouTube channel of the same name before joining the Non-league pyramid at the start of this season.

They now compete in the Eastern Counties League Division One South, England’s 10th tier and are bringing with them a whole new generation of fans to the non-league game.
